These problems should be sorted with the new version, out very soon, as the new version uses a completly new way of authenticating with the MSN servers.

It sounds like the msn script has been altered somehow.

Try reinstalling the script, or wait until next week and install the new version. :)

I'm trying to work out your motivations for this thread, what are you trying to acheive?

Thousands of people have installed it painlessly and easily. Even if it doesn't work, just uninstall it and don't use it?

What's the point in this thread?

When you installed the script, a dialog box would have popped up.

It sounds like you have either hit enter or pressed 'no'. Reinstall the script, clicking 'yes' this time.

A good suggestion.

As you say, it would be a lot of work!

Afraid all I can do at the moment is add it to my list of "stuff to think more about" until the Summer, exams and stuff really getting on top of me!

Glad people still like the plugin anyway. :)

This means that %msn.motd isn't set.

This will most likely be because you click "no" when mIRC popped up saying should it run initial startup commands when you installed it.

Reinstall the script, and hit 'yes' to the dialog that appears. :)
