Re: Help With Authenticating MSN

I can't think of anything that may have happened, no.

I'll check to see if Microsoft have changed anything though.

Re: Help With Authenticating MSN

I assume this uses a DLL?

Has it stopped working recently?

MSN haven't changed their authentication protocol for a few years - do you have any source code of the dll?

Re: MSN status window / Converstations on deskop

If you go into the control panel (/msncontrol) you can untick "IRC style chat windows". This could be the sort of thing that you're after. You can't do that with the status window though unfortunately. If this works for the chat windows, I can tell you how to do it for the status window th...

Re: "User not present in this conversation"

I'll have another look at this today.

To confirm - you open a chat window with a friend using windows live messenger. You talk for a while, then leave the window open for around 20 minutes. When you talk to your contact again, it says that the contact isn't present in the conversation?

Re: Mail address

I thought there was, but there isn't a friendly option unfortunately, no. However, if you press Alt-R in mIRC, then click "View", then select "msn.mrc". Once this window is open, press Ctrl-G and goto line 1505. Change line 1505 from: did -i msnconnect 3 0 %msn.user to: ;did -i m...

Re: "User not present in this conversation"

Bah that's annoying!

I'll try a bit harder to reproduce it! Many thanks for letting me know. :)

Re: "User not present in this conversation"

Yeah that's a bug I've just fixed. MSN have changed the way they alert when a user comes online - not sure if they were trying to break third party clients or not! I'll have a look a bit deeper into the problem today and will hopefully release a version today or tomorrow that fixes the fact that you...

Re: "User not present in this conversation"

Not managed to reproduce it unfortunately. Even when a window is left for an hour.

Are you talking to several people at the same time? That could be something to do with it.

Re: "User not present in this conversation"

Hmmm - may be.

I'm away from home today so can't look unfortunately, but if you can establish if there's any pattern to what makes it disconnect that'd be great!

Re: "User not present in this conversation"

Think I've fixed it. I'd be really grateful if you could test it for me. Could you press Alt-R in mIRC and click the 'Remote' tab. Then click View > msn.mrc. Then hit Ctrl-G and go to line 653, replace: sockwrite -n chat. $+ $right($active,$calc($len($active)-1)) MSG %msn. [ $+ [ $right($active,$cal...

Re: "User not present in this conversation"

It looks like when a "foreign" character is sent, such as the ones you have said, this causes MSN to disconnect the client.

Can you confirm that if you have a conversation without using any of the characters you mention, it doesn't disconnect you?

Re: "User not present in this conversation"

Thanks for reporting it - I'll check it out now.

The foreign characters used to be a big problem with the script. I did fix it though, but it appears that it may have broken again! I'll take a look at that now too. :)

Re: Scripts removed after installing MSN for mIRC?

You should get a warning when you run the script on anything below the supported version when you try to run the script.

I've had another look at the install script and still can't quite understand what happened, might have to put it down to one of those things. :?

Re: Scripts removed after installing MSN for mIRC?

Thanks for letting me know. I can't think of a mechanism that would cause the rest of your scripts to be erased. Did they still appear in the "View" menu in the scripts editor, just empty? Could you tell me which scripts you had that disappeared? I can then see if there are any conflicts. ...
